Founded in 1998, The Greenlands Reserve is not just concerned with preserving the natural state of the land, but with helping people preserve their heritage.  In the beginning, we worked primarily in the Colorado Springs area holding conservation easements on small urban parcels adjoining public parks.

We began accepting easements beyond El Paso County in 2001 in response to requests from donors in adjacent plains and mountain regions.

As we have grown, our mission has become more focused. We have crafted programs to protect the Arkansas River corridor, to save the ranching heritage of the high plains of eastern Colorado, and to preserve select forest and mountain landscapes.

We now have conservation easements protecting some 30,000 acres including 40 miles in the Arkansas River corridor.
