Howard E. Hallman, Jr., Board President
Mr. Hallman founded The Greenlands Reserve in 1998 fulfilling a long-standing passion for protecting open space and fostering an environment. He believes adequate open space is essential to public well-being. Mr. Hallman holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University. A registered professional engineer in Colorado for 25 years, his work experience includes twelve years at the Climax Molybdenum Mine near Leadville where his duties included miner, construction engineer, and head of industrial engineering.
Mr. Hallman founded his own environmental consulting firm in 1988, and has since performed environmental assessments and studies for a variety of clients, including the Resolution Trust Corporation, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation,
Kristin Dowling, Board Secretary
Kristin brings a unique perspective to the Board. Her
background includes being the 1990 and 1991 World Pro Mogul Tour Champion, U.S.
Freestyle Ski Team Nagano, Japan Olympic Hopeful, developing and operating a
winery, leading wine-bicycle tours in Europe, and now being an active mother of two.
With B.A.s in French Literature and Humanities, she is fluent in a
number of languages and loves exploring how language and culture is
intertwined. She is an avid tennis player and hiker and is game for any
adrenaline-filled activity.

Charly (Charlyn) Ellis, Board Member grew up in California. She has lived in four other states: CO, MT, NC, and MD. She graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a B.S. in Natural Resource Management. Her background includes 16 years as a librarian, work as a miner at Climax Molybdenum Mine, building and selling homes, work in DC at the monuments for the National Park Service, and 2 recent seasons in Glacier National Park. She loves the Rockies and the Sierra Nevadas, and enjoys hiking, skiing, rafting, and traveling. Charly has 2 daughters: one, an animal and wildlife lover in Veterinary School and one, a rock climber who works in Yosemite in the summer.
Peter Martz, Board Member
With more than 25 years of
experience in land planning and associated fields, Mr. Martz began his
career in San Diego as a urban planner. After moving to Colorado Springs,
he became a consultant for a number of large scale commercial, residential,
and retail projects. Mr. Martz serves on several volunteer boards,
including the Colorado Springs Citizens Transportation Advisory Board.




as well as a number of government entities, banks, corporations and private parties. He has personally completed over 2,000 projects and has significant experience in real estate and property transactions. Mr. Hallman is involved with a number of local groups serving public causes.
